E2 Practice Problem

Check out the video for my explanation of an E2 reaction. They are never as simple as you think at first glance. Things to look out for on an E2 elimination reaction: conjugation (will override Markovnikov), bulky nucleophile (will add to least sterically hindered molecule regardless of # of hydrogens), and of course the anti-periplanar rule (in cyclohexane). Good luck studying!

  1. Wow! I am very impressed with this video. It reminds me of countless hours watching videos on Kahn Academy. Your voice over was very clear and helpful with explaining the E2 reaction and why it was E2. I always find it tricky when there is conjugation vs following Markovnikov's rule. Great video and I hope you do more!
